About Get Grenada Swimming

Grenada is an island country in the Caribbean about 100 miles north of Venezuela.

Like other Caribbean countries many National Grenadians, children and adults, cannot swim (estimated at over 85%) resulting in unfortunate drownings.

The Get Grenada Swimming is a 5-year program designed to teach 8,000 children to swim by 2021. As of December 2020 we have taught over 7,000 children to swim.

The programme has three strategic parts:

Saturday

Free Lessons

Free lessons are held for children and adults at

11 different locations around Grenada.

Lessons are every Saturday

(and in Petite Martinique include Sundays too.)

Two National

Learn to Swim Weeks

Easter -The Tuesday to Saturday following Easter each year. In 2021 this will take place April 6th–10th.

July - The Monday to Friday after schools let out for the summer holidays, usually the second week of July.

In 2021 this will take place on July 5th - 9th.

School Programmes

After School free swim programmes are currently on hold until the Ministry of Education allows continuation.

Before the shutdown, we had programmes in the following schools. If you are interested in setting up a school programme, call Deb Eastwood at 404-5237.
